OMB

Written by Natalie Frijia, GO/NO GO is a circus theatre production telling the unheard story of the women of the Mercury 13. During the Mercury NASA missions, a program was begun by Dr. Randall Lovelace II
to screen and test to explore the performance potential for women in spaceflight testing programs, using the same metrics designed to select the Mercury 7 astronauts.

Expert pilots with thousands of hours logged in the air, circus performers and wing walkers, all underwent physical and psychological tests often out-performing their male counterparts. Ultimately, the program was cancelled, however their achievements were essential to laying the foundation for women astronauts throughout NASA’s lifespan.

Still in development, there are a few tracks to show OMB’s involvement in the production: an introduction, test soundscapes, and test scenes. The Tests accompany energetic circus acts and highlight some of the physical and psychological tests that occurred to demonstrate their capabilities to be future astronauts.
